Schoolgirls, Kegalla, Sri Lanka, 1995
McCurry photographed these two schoolgirls in an elementary school in Kegalla, Sri Lanka. According to McCurry the distinctive hats worn by these children are remnant of the long history of colonialism. Amusingly, the girls themselves display a mixture of interest and boredom at the same time.
